Tympanometry

This test is used to assess how well the middle ear system is functioning. A rubber tip is placed in the ear canal to measure the air pressure required to move the ear drum.

Results may indicate fluid behind the drum is causing a middle ear infection. Conductive hearing loss may also exist on its own or with a middle ear infection.
